We have discovered a small producer of natural and tasty hazelnuts in the Willamette Valley of Oregon (where 95% of all U.S. hazelnuts are grown). These fresh, whole nuts are a key ingredient in many European style desserts as well as a unique flavor for your own cake and cookie recipes. These are sweet nuts with a wonderful woodsy taste. Oregon hazelnuts are high in heart-friendly monounsaturated fat. They contain the highest level of folic acid of any tree nut, as well as fiber, vitamins E, B6 and A, Potassium and Calcium. PEELING HAZELNUTS: Toast them in a pan in a 350 degree oven for about 10-15 minutes. Then spread a handful at a time on a towel and rum them. The peels will come right off. Price is per pound.
